it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Young children make sense of their world by pretend playing. The process of pretend play builds their language skills as well as cognitive skills in solving problems.
I teach 2 classes of 18 students between the ages of 4 and 5 years old.
They are a fun, enthusiastic Preschoolers that enjoys being in school. I am in a Title 1 school where 98% of the population are Hispanic. During our class, there usually is a choice for centers for students to play while my assistant and I work with smaller group.
Dramatic play center is one of the most popular area.
My Project
I am requesting for a new set of dress up clothes as well as a cart to help organize them and two baby dolls. These materials will help enhance my dramatic play area where my students can expand their vocabulary as they pretend play with others. It will also help them problem solve which is a lifelong skill. Dramatic play expands a child's awareness of self in relation to others and the environment and helps foster independence.
Dramatic play is a valuable part of our daily curriculum.
Dramatic play engages children in both life and learning. Its real value lies in the fact that it increases their understanding of the world they live in, while it works to develop personal skills that will help them meet with success throughout their lives.
