This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"I believe children are the future. Teach them well and let them lead the way." These are not only words from a popular song but a strong belief that I hold as a teacher.

Equity for all!

My students are full of potential. They are bright shining beacons of light. I am asking for assistance so that they can glow like the stars that they are.

Fortunately, for the students in my class, envisioning the future is something we think of and talk about often. Because their daily existence is so challenging, I have them focus on their bright and delightful futures!

I teach in a low socio-economic area at a Title I school where 99% of the population receives free breakfast and lunch at school. On most days the heartiest and healthiest meals that the students receive are what they eat at school. It isn't unusual for the students in my class to stockpile food in their book bags to take home in order to have something to eat later that day.

Despite the harsh circumstances and backdrops of their lives, the students come to school daily with smiles on their faces.

My Project

Play sets the foundation for our later interactions with the world. This can be a challenge during these difficult times. Students need to practice social distancing by staying 6 feet apart at all times. Come September, my kids will be confined to their desk and classroom. My school, has banned movement inside the building to prevent the spread of COVID-19. My youngsters will be eating lunch inside of their classroom. Gym will also be in the classroom. Our auditorium and recess area are all off limits. Think about how sad this is, if you are a 6 year old!

My students have been through ALOT, they need some down time!

These learning games will stimulate their minds and enhance their understanding, all while having fun and practicing social distancing. Each child can engage and have fun while playing at their desk.
