it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are the most awesome bunch of kids I have ever met. I teach 100 sixth graders in an inner city school. Their neighborhood is gang ridden and has very little access to museums. Our school in an oasis in the middle of a neighborhood that is full of dilapidated one-hundred year old buildings that have single one-bedroom apartments that house entire families.
My students are sweet, energetic and eager to learn new things.
They need physical education equipment in order to become physically healthy.
My Project
My students need softball equipment in order practice their softball skills during physical education four times a week. Our school has ill fitting gloves and only one dozen safety balls with which to play softball. This new equipment will be a great plus to our physical education program.
The students are overweight and are not motivated to participate.
I know that this new equipment will encourage them to try their best during physical education time. Hopefully, they will want to join the boys and girls softball teams that our part of our after school programs.
Last year, we were not able to field softball teams for either boys or girls. This year are goal is to field teams for both girls and boys when we have the 5th and 6th graders participate.
