My Students

In our classroom we are either in a carpet spot, reading/writing spots, or we are working small groups around the room. We have a lot of fluidity in our seating arrangements and would love some new seating options for our classroom.

The class motto we have in our classroom is: BTBTYCB.

BTBTYCB stands for Be The Best That You Can Be. I absolutely believe in holding my students to high expectations, and I truly believe that the limitations a teacher puts on her students generates the ceiling point for those students. However, at the same time, I feel it is crucial in the classroom to foster a community of BTBTYCB. Students in my class try to keep to the class motto and be the best that they can be, while I also try to be the best teacher and person that I can be. We as a class have come so incredibly far this year. We came into school in the beginning of the year not all getting along, not always listening, and not being our best selves. As the year has gone on, we have grown so much as a community.

My Project

This is my first year teaching and when I entered my classroom for the first few times it seemed bare and overwhelming. Two items that yelled out to me that I decided to hang onto from the previous teacher, were these small red rocking chairs that students could use at the carpet. For some reason, even though one was broken, I decided to keep them. Boy, am I happy I did! My students LOVE these chairs and become excited to do just about anything if they are able to sit in a "red chair" on the carpet. Because I love my kiddos and I want them to feel motivated, I want to bring in more special seating options for students who are doing the right thing and deserve something special and/or extra recognition. I am excited to bring in these Emotion Floor Cushions for this exact purpose! On another note, we play a LOT of math games in 4th grade. We can use the labels, laminating sheets, binder clips, scissors, and chart paper to help our math games stay nice and organized.

My students will be so excited when they find out that we have another project on DonorsChoose.org.

They love to hear all about the different people who donate to our class and they are so appreciative. With the new seating options in our classroom, even more students will be able to earn a special seat and with the new organizational classroom supplies we will be able to play even more math games. What could be more fun than that? Thank you so much!!
