This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The products that I have selected will encourage my students to develop and use appropriate social and emotional skills, so that they can continue to build relationships with their peers and adults and engage in cooperative play. All my students are special needs, and some struggle to communicate and build age appropriate social relationships. Pretend or cooperative play is important for my students to teach self-regulation, conflict resolution, allows them to have an emotional outlet, and supports their creative ideas.

These supplies, with your help, will support my students' learning and development, foster their independence, and encourage their creativity.

Our classroom is in need of some dramatic play materials to practice appropriate play skills. These supplies will give all of them an opportunity to creatively communicate their thoughts and ideas through pretend play with their peers and teachers. The pretend dishes, wooden toaster, tea set, coffee maker and blender will allow for them to have real-life practice with setting a table, serving and making pretend food, and build their vocabulary skills.
