My students need sketchbooks, brushes, canvasses, easels, aprons and acrylic paint to paint!
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Wawa's classroom raised $1,429

My Students
My students are eager to paint. They routinely ask about when it's going to happen. However I have to sadly keep on answering vaguely because the truth of the matter is our school cannot afford to purchase even the most basic art supplies. Art is intelligence having fun said Albert Einstein.
My school is situated in a high poverty area.
Yet it is populated by vivacious children thirsty to learn and full of imagination. Most of the students are first generation immigrants. Some of them were hardly able to attend school in their native country. Which means they definitely never had any art class in their former impoverished schools. Discovering the visual arts fuels their imagination and opens up their mind.
My Project
The plan is to direct the students in sketching their ideas in sketchbooks. Then they will learn to use acrylic paint on a canvas set on an easel using a variety of paint brushes. The aprons will avoid the inevitable accidents to ruin their uniforms.
To my students painting opens up a brand new world of discovery.
They never had that opportunity as most toddlers and kindergarten children brought up in the U.S. They need that experience to develop not only their motor skills but also their sense of aesthetic.
