I teach 120 fantastic students this year in geography. Middle school students are amazing and one of a kind. They are so sweet and learning how to be themselves. At the same time, though, they still have lots of built up energy like many elementary students.
All of my students are wonderful learners and are always asking great questions and want to learn about the world.
My goal is to teach them about places and events in other parts of the world they probably do not know about.
My Project
Normally, students are able to move around the classroom and get their wiggles out but with social distancing we are not able to do that.
Desk foot bands help kids stay concentrated in class while still being able to release some of their energy.
The foot fidgit desk bands are put on each students desk and give them the opportunity to bounce their feet and move their legs while they are learning. This helps students stay focused while being able to release energy at the same time. As a result students are more attentive in class, get more work done, and remember the material better than if they are sitting in a desk and not able to move.
Even during a normal year desk fidgit bands help all students. Some may just rest their feet on the bands while others really take advantage of the ability to move and release built up energy when they are having to sit in their desks.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
