This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This is my third year of teaching. My school is a Title I school located in Queens. The children receive free breakfast and lunch.

This year has been a challenging one meeting the needs of all of my ICT students.

Having 12 special ed. students this year has been a difficult, but enjoyable challenge to see these children grow. We have a very diverse population of students at the school.

Fifty percent of my students are ELLs who all come from different backgrounds. Also, thirty percent are below grade level in reading. Even though my pupils face either speaking, writing or reading challenges, they are still trying every day to achieve their academic goals.

My Project

I am asking for more book series for my classroom library. The classroom library I have does not have enough engaging books that the students can relate to. Reading is difficult in the classroom.

Classroom libraries should have books that students can reflect and connect.

All of the books that are in our library are outdated or falling apart. The new books are to help students make text-to-text connections, self-connections, and world-connections.

Also, it will help students move reading levels with the chapter books I am asking for. Thank you for your support and helping my students move reading levels.
