This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
For students with autism, it can be very challenging at times to sit still and follow a lesson attentively. It is critical that they are getting active and feeling encouraged to participate during all parts of their school day in different ways.
Our classroom thrives off the creative and curious minds of 9 K-2 students.
Although we are a moderate to severe special education classroom, we strive to provide our kids with experiences that encourage learning in different ways. They enjoy doing art activities, moving and grooving to music and exercise, and take great pride in work that they complete. They also enjoy participating in school-wide activities such as festivals and special programs and look forward to new and exciting things in the classroom.
My Project
The materials that we are requesting will allow students to participate in classroom lessons in different ways. My students will be getting active throughout different parts of the day with the bilibos, math activity kit, spelling activity kit, and activity mats. The math activity kit will allow students to have a more concrete and tangible interaction with math. The spelling activity kit will allow the more advanced students the chance to physically spell out a word with sounds they have learned. The activity mats will be a great addition to our morning routine to get our bodies moving. Lastly, the bilibos will allow students to sit, spin, and step on a tool that can help them engage more in small group activities on the carpet.
Donations to this project would give the kids the chance to get active more in the classroom.
It will allow them to use a total body response in order to interact with the material that at times can be somewhat challenging.
