My Students
Our world runs smoothly because of measurement--from the time we get up in the morning, measure out our drinks and cereal for breakfast, and decide how we will walk or ride a car to school or work. My students need real world applications in order to understand measurement.
I teach 25 fabulous students in a Title 1 school.
This means that 55% of our students are at poverty. Poverty means that students don't have access to books at home, computers, and normal measuring tools. My students need these items in the classroom in order to gain knowledge of the world around them and to live successfully in it.
My Project
These resources will allow my students to both explore and master measurement concepts during math and science. I love to teach in a way that students can touch and experience math. I strongly feel that they understand it deeper when they can learn math concepts this way. My students will be able to play games in order to show mastery their knowledge instead of completing a worksheet.
If you give to this project my students will be able to explore and learn measurement concepts in a very concrete and real way!
They will be fully engaged and will be able to learn at their differentiated level.
