My Students
I teach over seventy students ranging from Pre-K to 6th grade, who are all diagnosed with varying speech-language deficits. My students have very diverse needs and unique interests. Some of my students are diagnosed with fluency (stuttering) disorders, language disorders, articulation/phonology disorders, Apraxia, etc. All of my students’ needs vary drastically, which makes it all the more difficult to supply all of my students with the unique curriculum and motivation they need to thrive in their speech-language growth and development.
What I love about my job is that I have the opportunity to make learning fun while incorporating the students’ speech and language goals.
Everyone likes to play games, so why not practice a skill while having fun? Students need more excitement and motivation to re-engage during their sessions due to COVID-19 fatigue. I am committed to helping students realize they can be successful in reaching their goals.
My Project
My students need a boost to help give them new ways to see their progress. Using a variety of hands on objects, they will be able to measure their successes, which will continue to improve their social-emotional skills and confidence in themselves.
The resources in my project will help support my students’ speech/language/communication skills flourish.
The toys/reinforcers will be used as motivators to help support my students’s social, emotional, and mental well-being after a hard couple of years of on-line learning versus distance education and in- person with masks.
Finding ways to motivate students to make their correct sounds and keeping up with their curriculum that will catch their attention has always been a challenge. These resources will certainly help with my goal.
