My Students
The student's in the band and orchestra programs are extremely talented and bright. They are the kind of students that every teacher wishes to have. They are constantly pushing to become the best forms of themselves in the music classroom as well as each other class. They understand the responsibility that is placed on them in music and strive to reach goals that they may not have thought possible. There is every student from the straight A future valedictorian to one of the leading star football players.
Each student has their own outlet and for my 104 students, it is music.
Sometimes the 1 or 2 hours that students spend in my music classroom is their only time to express themselves, be with their friends and to create a special moment together.
With a growth of 36% from 2018-2019 school year to the 2019-2020 year, we have found ourselves very short on resources. The goal is to grow the program by 20% minimum each year. With that kind of growth, we are in need of more supplies for each student so they can reach their highest potential in music!
My Project
In order to effectively learn music, my students need music stands to put their music on. Many of our music stands do not rise or hold music in a way that student's can look at. The baritone saxophone case that we currently have is held together by duct tape and string. Our player has a hard time transporting his instrument from one rehearsal to the next as well as to out of school functions such as auditions. The piccolo is the next step for many of our flute players and will increase the musicianship in which we as an ensemble can play.
