This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
If you loved music in school especially band, here is an opportunity for you do give back. The Holland Band provides all instruments and supplies and our success at festivals and band contests show we are on the right track. The growth of the band is expensive.
We can see the top of the Houston skyline from our football field.
Holland band students are regular kids whose parents often have very limited means. Our campus is well run and our students work hard. Our school has been doing great on state tests and are a model for all similar schools.
My Project
Our band program is competing with some affluent school districts, some with band programs that have almost unlimited means. Music does not know rich or poor, but we do need instruments that are competitive and the supplies that go along with it. We have a modest inventory but supplies such as reeds are not shared and must be replaced every few weeks. A good reed is essential for a good sound.
Our band is growing and is succeeding where most inner-city schools often fall short.
Our school budget cannot keep with the the growth and success. You can help us bring the same opportunity to our kids that maybe you had growing up. Please give back.
