My Project

Getting students to read is vital to making our students and the whole community stronger. Our community, where we mainly have Title I schools, is in particular need of strong reading skills since it is often not encouraged or practiced consistently at home. One of the best ways to get students to read is to make the experience more engaging for kids. Our students do not always have access to a wide variety of books at home, so I want to make my classroom a place where reading feels like an enjoyable activity for everyone. All students should have access to and opportunity to read the genres and topics that interest them the most to help them fall in love with reading.

I want to fill my class with books that my students love!

This way students can more easily get into reading and build up their reading skills. The wide variety of books I have requested will help students get books that they actually want to read, and the sets of books will give me the opportunity to use book clubs to help facilitate a stronger learning experience that helps students better build their social skills while they read. Reading books also helps students better develop their emotional skills as they learn from characters in books and build connections to their own lives. The other equipment being requested will be used to help keep the classroom more organized and clean.
