My Students

There is nothing more exciting in music class than getting to play instruments. Giving my students this experience, one that they might not get anywhere else, is an awesome thing to witness. The benefits of learning an instrument are far-reaching, and on top of that, it is just plain fun!

I teach music to over 300 Pre-school through third grade students in a small school district in New Jersey.

My students are enthusiastic about learning music, and I want to make sure that they have the materials to get the best education possible.

My Project

Recorder instruction is an exciting part of the third grade curriculum, and I want to make sure that each of my students has a recorder to play. This set of twenty recorders will ensure that all of my students have access to their own instrument.

Playing the recorder is enjoyable and it is empowering; it helps students apply their musical skills and helps to develop hand-eye coordination, as well as a number of cognitive skills.

I have a few small piano keyboards with headphones. I am asking for some headphone splitters to use to create a keyboard center. With these splitters, students can work in partners and listen to each other's playing without being disruptive to the rest of the class.

These materials will keep my students motivated to keep learning, and will surely benefit them in music and beyond.
