This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Hello, I’m looking to change the lives and outlook of 50 students this year. Last year, two teachers quit on them, and I’m determined to make this year special and different.

As a result of their teachers from last year, I’m trying to undo a second-grade year of hurt and not only show them that people care about them but also care about their success.

My goal is to hit 100% proficiency by the end of the year in math as that is all I will teach this year. Through your support, I can show these students that math and learning can be fun. I will show them that they are capable of greatness, and it’s already within them.

My goal is to have 2 students of the week in each class, as I will have 2 sets of 25 students. I will use the awards and snacks to motivate their learning efforts.

The supplies will be to build my small groups to build their fluency, especially adding and subtracting within 12. It’s going to be the foundation in which they are able to do mental math, and it will help with their stamina and mental fatigue. The dry erase dots, for example, will be used to work with me in a group of 8, and we will practice word problems and put down important information, and draw out the problems when needed.

Please help me give these students the learning experience they deserve. They are great kids who were given unfair circumstances in my eyes. With your help, we can get these students to where they need to be by May. You have my eternal gratitude.
