My Project
Second grade is a year full of imagination, growth, and creative expression. In our classroom, students learn best when they can engage with concepts through hands-on, meaningful experiences. A Cricut Maker would allow us to bring our lessons to life through the visual arts, empowering students to design, create, and connect with their learning in deeper and more personal ways.
With this tool, students can create collages, character illustrations, storytelling props, classroom murals, and interactive displays that reflect what they’re learning across all subjects.
Whether it's crafting story scenes in literacy, building geometric art in math, or illustrating science concepts like life cycles or weather, the Cricut would help students visualize and personalize their learning.
Art also plays a powerful role in our social studies curriculum, where we focus on identity, fairness, and racial justice. Students explore the lives of diverse leaders like Ruby Bridges, Martin Luther King Jr., Dolores Huerta, and others. Through visual arts, they can express what they’ve learned by designing timeline projects, freedom quilts, quote posters, and symbolic artwork that honors these change-makers and their impact on our world.
The Cricut Maker will also support classroom organization and aesthetics by helping us design student-made labels, signs, and bulletin boards, creating a welcoming and inclusive learning space.
More than just a machine, the Cricut is a tool that fosters creative thinking, artistic expression, and a strong sense of ownership. Students gain confidence as they see their ideas come to life, and they develop important skills in design, collaboration, and problem-solving—all while having fun and making meaningful connections across subjects.
