This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A typical day in our class is based on learning through play. I want my students to have fun as they learn their letters and sounds. The alphabet teaching tubs and the felt board will be a great supplement for my students and will help them to be ready to go to kindergarten.

Our early childhood special education class has 7 students between the ages of 3 to 5 years old.

All of the children have been identified with special needs such as autism, developmentally delayed, intellectual disability, language impairment and deaf and hard of hearing. Our classroom is on the campus of an elementary Title I school who is economically disadvantaged and with a great percentage of English Language Learners.

My Project

My students will use the alphabet teaching tubs and the the felt board as they participate in reading time and circle time activities. The alphabet teaching tubs will be the perfect tool for my students to go over the letters and sounds. This way the children will have a fun learning experience as they manipulate the items that come with the teaching tubs. The felt board will be a great way for the children to follow storybooks and use the felt board items that are part of the different stories. The felt board is the best tool for the students to put their felt activities up on the board, follow the sequence of the story and take turns. As the children use these tools every day, they will be able to learn their ABC's, letter sounds, follow storybooks, participate during circle time, learn fine motor movements, and practice taking turns.

They will have the opportunity to be in a classroom where they will have the best teaching tools based on their needs. My students will be ready to go to kindergarten.
