This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This will mark my third project and third classroom in three years. When we started this work, we wondered: How can physical space influence student learning? How can furniture improve conversation?
We asked students to envision more comfortable classrooms with better flow and flexibility.
We successfully redesigned Room 227 and Room 222 and our students flourished. We can't wait for this next opportunity!
We have decided to make one of our history classrooms the learning lab for this year. Adding new chairs and a sofa will create a coffee shop vibe with matching end tables and mobile cabinets to store their belongings. Our students prefer a variety of options so everyone feels comfortable in the new setting.
Through this collaboration, we will explore how much more we learn when we prioritize the physical learning environment.
