This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
At our school, we have two groups of self-contained students who spend the majority of their school day in the same classroom – a smaller classroom with a 15:1 ratio. Since teachers rotate in and out of the classroom, the current learning environment is not inviting.
We want to makeover this classroom with our students and help them make this space their own.
Our goal is to help bring their ideas to life. We want to give them more choice and more flexibility in the physical space with collaborative tables, comfortable chairs, and calm-down corners.
Through this collaboration, we will explore what happens when we prioritize student ownership in ALL aspects of the learning process.
