This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Reading is a powerful tool - it builds vocabulary, creates opportunities, and expands knowledge across all domains. For the upcoming 2023-24 school year, I would like to start a school Book Club to entice students to read more in their free time. I'd like to be able to give each participating student a fun bookmark to use while they're reading, and stickers for their planners to mark off the day(s) they are scheduled to meet & to promote independence.

The goal is to read to learn and grow instruction through stem-based activities that correlate to each book!

With these materials, we can begin the school year fully prepared for the start of our book clubs and offer one club for each grade -- 3, 4, and 5! We'd begin with the book titled, "Blubber," so that we can shift to a STEM activity and compare it with what was represented in the book. Hands-on, multi-modal learning is the way to these students' hearts!
