My students need three digital cameras and one memory stick.

I teach fifth grade in a urban school setting. My classroom is diverse with a wide variety of ethnic groups.

I have learned how to use digital story telling as a tool for teaching social studies and science. Money in my school district is scarce as the state budget is in crisis. Schools in my district lost over 100 million dollars last year and the cuts are going to be even more severe next school year. I want my students to be to use the latest technology to create enthusiasm about learning and to create authentic learning experiences.

I want my students to be able to create digital stories about social studies content. I also want my students to be able to take photos of science experiments to create data for scientific inquiry. In order to do these things in class I need to have some digital cameras the students can use. Using the cameras will allow the students to experience fifth grade content in a new, hands-on way.

Your help will ensure my students have access to the most current methods for using technology in the classroom. It will also help them be able to experience technology in a whole different way from the standard, "computer programs" they have used in the past. Having these experiences should create enthusiasm for learning and build motivation for looking at careers in technology in the future.
