This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Let's listen, discover, learn, and read about real animals!

My students are 100% Latino.

90% are Limited English Proficient. This year, I have several parents that have limited schooling and all of my parents bring their children to school for a better opportunity. My parents are positive and my students are eager learners. We are in a large (700+) urban school in California.

My Project

I am requesting Gail Gibbons Science Read-Alongs - Set 1 This set includes books on wolves, sharks, whales, sea turtles, and spiders. This set has 4 copies of the book, plus a read-along CD that narrates the story word for word. The students will be able to listen and follow along on their new donorschoose.org donated ipod listening center. The read along set targets first grade areas of life cycles and characteristics of living things. It will also help my second language learners increase their listening comprehension and reading fluency skills. I am also requesting a protective cover for the 4th generation ipod touch I received.

Students are interested in science.

This will be the first set of read along books in our new ipod listening center. These books could peak these students interests to pursue a career in the sciences.
