This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a passionate math teacher, my goal for the upcoming school year is to create a more collaborative, engaging, and student-centered classroom. To make this vision a reality, I am seeking support to bring two large whiteboards into our learning space.

These whiteboards will serve as stations where students can work together to solve math problems, explain their thinking, and explore new concepts in an interactive, hands-on way.

Instead of passively sitting at desks, students will be up, moving, discussing, and learning with their peers. This type of active participation not only strengthens their understanding of mathematical concepts but also builds critical thinking and communication skills.

Having access to large whiteboards will allow me to implement strategies like “math gallery walks,” “team problem-solving challenges,” and “whiteboard rotations”—all designed to get students talking about math and engaging deeply with the content.
