The items I have chosen for my students are to help promote their communication skills and meet their education goals. I am a speech language pathologist who works for a low income school where I work with grades Pre-K to 2nd grade. All of my students have a variety of needs that require my services to help them access their education. The items in my project were chosen to help my students learn essential communication skills with toys, games, and create new materials for my speech therapy sessions such as the TPT gift card.
These items will help my students' meet their communication goals through fun and engaging toys, games, and materials.
My students’ needs range from working on how to say certain sounds correctly to using assistive technology as their voice. The one thing they have in common is that they love to play and learn while playing in our sessions.
The goal of my project is to have my students meet their speech and language goals while having fun using turn taking games, imaginative materials such as magnetic tiles and/or kinetic sand, and educational toys such as alphabet acorns. All of my items can be used in therapy to target articulation, requesting, social skills, vocabulary, expanding grammar skills, answering questions, understanding and following directions, and building connections.
