Let's Learn to be Creative through Art in STEAM

Help me give my students construction paper, glue, scissors, paint, play doh, paint sticks, stencils, dot markers, tape, paper shapes, paper and foam letters, ribbon, feathers, stickers, buttons, tissue paper, pom poms, stamps, collage materials and containers to store materials.

My Project

STEAM is science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics. Art is one part of STEAM I’d like to start developing in my preschoolers. Art center is a place where students can go to explore, be creative and express their feelings and ideas. Every child is an artist at heart. It is a place that promotes high level thinking, problem solving, and is rich in vocabulary. Through art students can learn and develop skills in all learning domains (language, literacy, math, science, social studies, fine motor, gross motor, and social skills). It is a fun place in the classroom if you plan and set up materials for your students or let them create freely.

Students learn by doing, exploring, and getting messy.

Having a variety of art materials and rotating materials is SUPER important! I set up my Art center based on student interest and relate it to our theme. Materials I would like to place in my art center are construction paper, white paper, crayons, markers, glue, scissors, paint, play dough, paint sticks, watercolors, stencils, dot markers, tape, paper shapes, paper/foam letters, ribbon, feathers, stickers, buttons, tissue paper, pom poms, stamps, collage materials ((ex: leaves, shells, flowers, sticks) and trays. I plan to rotate the art materials to keep student interest. This will be a fun way to start students learning the art in STEAM to foster learning in all areas.
