This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember why, as a child, you loved going to the beach so much? Could it be the fun times and learning that took place when you played with sand and water?
I teach 18 wonderful and curious children in a high need school.
My students love to go play in our sand and water table daily. The only problem is, there is only sand and a table but no learning materials for this area! The old ones I had have gone missing and we need some new sand and water supplies for the kids to learn through our sand and water table.
My Project
Due to the weather in New York, children only have about 3 months out of the year when they can actually go to a beach. So they don't have much opportunity to play with sand and water. You would be surprised how much you can learn through sand and water!
Through playing with water, you can learn about floating and sinking, buoyancy, the water cycle, and measurement. Through playing with sand you can learn about cause and effect, volume, science, and social skills such as sharing, taking turns, and working together. If we have the tools to explore these concepts through sand and water, the kids can learn while they play! My students also need waterproof smocks to stay dry. Your donations can give us the supplies we need!
You can make it possible for my students to learn important social and academic skills by working with sand and water!
Donating to our class will bring the beach to our classroom every day and the children can use the tools they need to learn while playing. Please donate to this worthy cause. Thank you!
