Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a wonderful class of 25 third graders. They are excited, energetic, and enthusiastic. My students love technology, especially when they have the opportunity to use if on a regular basis. They do not have many opportunities to work with technology at home, school we do not have enough computers for them to use technology on a regular basis. I want to provide them the opportunity to use computers so that they can become computer-literate.

We are a Title 1, low-performing school with a majority of English-language learners.

Being able to use computers on a regular basis will allow them to become computer-literate in Third Grade.

My Project

Bill Gates said "Learning to write programs stretches your mind, and helps you think better, creates a way of thinking about things that I think is helpful in all domains." This is the time to bring computer programming into our classroom.

Computer-based learning has become of way of life today.

Students have more opportunities to learn with computer-based lessons, and they have more interest in the lessons as well. My students use the computer lab for research and practicing skills. Now they need to go the next step and start computer programming!

The basics of coding are not necessarily difficult to master, and starting to learn young teaches kids how to ask questions, problem solve, and see new possibilities for what they are capable of creating. There are many online resources to help them learn, including "Learning HTML For Kids!" and "Kodable.Pro.".

Coding is the new literacy all kids can benefit from. Even kids who don't go on to become computer scientists will benefit from learning to speak and understand the language of coding. My students are ready for this.

Coding is fun for Third graders, and having more computers for my students to use will ensure that they become computer-literate. Having the HP Chromebook Computers a will make this possible in my classroom. Thank you for supporting technology in the classroom.
