My students need reading materials, letter puzzles, letter stamps, phonics stamps, word building blocks, to assist and motivate in learning letters and words.

My Students

Most younger students learn through hands-on materials. I have a very limited supply of materials to use to motivate students to learn letters and how to make words using those letters. I want them to learn about letters and words by providing them with materials that motivate and are hands-on.

I teach five year old kindergarten in a school that has a high poverty index.

My students learn better through the use of hands-on materials. They have to see it and touch it to learn it best. Paper and pencil work does not work well for them. Our school recently changed to a School for the Arts, so teaching them with hands-on materials only promotes the arts.

My Project

I am requesting letter puzzles, letter stamps, phonics stamps, word building blocks, and other hands-on materials to assist in helping students learn letters and word knowledge. With these materials I will be able to create literacy centers for the the students to use independently and I will be able to walk around to observe and assist. This will also give me the chance to interact more with my students and see there abilities to use letters and words on things other than paper and pencil assignments. These materials will provide hands-on learning for students that needed visuals at such a young age.

Please help in supporting my class as I try to provide resources to assist students with learning letters and words.

I want to provide my students with a strong foundation for reading. Providing these experiences with hands-on materials will assistant in building that strong foundation at such an early age.
