My Project
My project is for black history items to be able to celebrate and display black history all year. I would love to have the posters up in an area in my classroom for students to read and learn from, books to read all year, and decorations to keep up all year. This is such a great way for students to be involved all year with learning about their black history. Truth is being erased. The voices of Black activists, authors, and changemakers are being silenced.
My students need to know about leaders like Ella Baker, Fannie Lou Hamer, John Lewis, and Bayard Rustin.
Without reading books that celebrate Black joy, resilience, and excellence. Without knowing the full history of this country, including the hard truths and the stories of resistance that continue today.
