This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom is truly amazing! Our school is located south of a large city in Florida. It is a rural area with many students coming from farming immigrant communities. Most of my students are the first in their families to attend school in the United States. Their parents do not speak English, making it difficult for my students to receive help at home on their school work. Distance learning has been challenging for many of my current students, but even with the dramatically fast pace in which schools had to close down and begin distance learning my students and their families did an amazing job of working together to do the best they could to be successful at virtual school.
The world changed overnight, but kids are resilient and they kept on moving forward without skipping a beat.
The end of the last school year brought many challenges to our school community. Our school did an amazing job providing students with a school device to take home while we began distance learning. With the new school year about a month away we are starting to realize that distance learning will probably be the way schools will reopen in the fall.
My Project
Distance learning brought many challenges. Schools had to become remote overnight and the students needed to adapt to a whole new normal. I would like my students to feel excited about attending class and I find that sitting at my desk in-front of the computer is not exciting or engaging.
I would like to have an iPad so I can make distance learning exciting for my students by allowing me the ability to be more fluid.
To be able to move freely while teaching indoors or outdoors and change the scenery. I could also teach a class at a park or do a live science experiment out doors if I had an iPad which would make being mobile much easier than carrying a laptop.
