My CC3 8th grade Math students are super polite and GREAT this year, PLEASE help me keep my students MOTIVATED this year while we are 100% DISTANCE LEARNING!
Distance learning is NOT easy but students have been very cooperative and very patient with all the integration of technology and different platforms of learning. I often have students volunteering to come in during Office Hours to HELP ME test out different platforms of technology we've been using. They are AMAZING kids that WANT to be part of a TEAM!
My Project
I've been teaching for 15+ years and have earned Teacher of the Year title back in 2015 at my school site (also became one of the 7 finalists at the district). Therefore keeping students engaged will NOT be a problem. Even with distance learning I keep them going with individual practice via getmoremath.com and use a variety of technology/activities via nearpod interactive lessons, drag and drop slide activities, Interactive Task Boards, Jamboard Group races, Kahoot games and Quizlets Live team competitions.
However, this year with 100% distance learning the gap will be HUGE if we don't keep students engaged and MOTIVATED.
This is where I need YOUR help. I've spent countless hours researching/attending webinars and developing fun engaging activities. BUT I know students who are less motivated will start to drop out of the race with distance learning. I'm starting my Virtual Prize Box drawings for Top 3 Scorers (in each of my 6 periods) on GetMoreMath.com, every first Monday of the Month. Right now, I only have Extra Quiz and Test points, and HW pass as my prizes. The learning gap will greatly be reduced if donors can fund this project to add $5 Amazon gift cards (6 periods x 9 months) to my Virtual Prize Boxes this year.
