Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students have multiple disabilities, and learning even the most basic skills of daily living can be a significant challenge to them. Many struggle to stay motivated. Despite their disabilities, food still speaks to them. My students need to keep their energy up. My goal is that no student should go hungry.

Snack time is my students' favorite part of the day, but some students cannot afford to bring a snack to school every day, so I provide them with snacks in class and at home.

In addition to giving snacks as rewards and keeping them motivated, they also look forward to taking snacks home with them at the end of the day. Most of my students come from low-income families, and their primary source of food comes from school. So, I ensure a snack is always available in my classroom. I don't care if they just came from lunch or should have eaten what was offered for breakfast. If they need something in their stomach to learn better and get motivated, I am happy to provide it.

This project is to replenish the snack box in our classroom. Donors have been so generous in the past to help me supply snacks for my students.
