Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In my classroom I have the opportunity to observe two different classes. In one class I have a normal group of students and in the other a class of gifted students. One common characteristic that I see in my gifted group is the drive of asking deeper questions about our learning tasks. Even though most of them are curious about our tasks there are some students who are quiet and prefer to work on their own away from their classmates. I plan to develop projects in class that satisfy the needs of all my students.
In my classroom I support my gifted students’ learning needs by playing multiple academic games in our math centers.
Some of my gifted students have their own talents and potential to grow. We must be ready for gifted students who have the desire to learn at their own pace. At the same time they also bring social emotional learning (SEL) needs and we need to be prepared with tools to identify and support their SEL wellbeing in our classroom community.
My Project
In our school year we are constantly using materials and now at the half of the year we need more materials to keep learning in class. Students are always excited to use brand new materials and it keeps them motivated to learn more content in class. Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not continue using their materials for different learning activities in class. The dry erase markers, colored pencils and standard pencils are all used in mathematics, social studies, language arts and science in Spanish.
