This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This year our class participated in a drumming residency. My students learned about the cultures of South Africa, Cuba and Brazil while taking amazing technical lessons in the beautiful art of drumming. They were inspirational! The residency culminated in a performance for their parents and everyone was in awe. Our kindergarteners rocked.
Music is motivating!
My students truly flourished while learning to play the drums. Allowing their musical journey to continue would be absolutely awesome. Their skill, confidence and motivation has increased tremendously. I’d hate to see the growth stop here. A set of drums is a gift whose impact is everlasting!
