This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach in an urban high school where 100% of my students are classified as low income. There is no money in the budget to help me re-vamp my science supplies to prepare for the new standards.
Please help me to provide my students with the necessary materials so that they can investigate and complete labs according to the new NYS Science Standards.
My students are very eager to learn and they are excited to do hands-on activities. I will be the only Earth Science teacher in my building next year who will be implementing the new standards and I need the proper materials, such as cheesecloth, filters, food coloring and spray bottles. The students will be doing project-based activities focusing on erosion, climate change and weather phenomena.
