This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I currently have 24 six- and seven-year-old students in my classroom. I am teaching first graders in a Title I school, located in a high poverty and high crime area of Pennsylvania.
All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Many of my students come from homes where English is not spoken. I have three special education students and two ESL (English as a Second Language) students in my classroom. Several of the students in my classroom have an in-class social worker.
My Project
My first graders will be learning about Community Helpers this year in Social Studies. We would love to get reading and coloring books about Community helpers.
We want to integrate Art and Social Studies by writing and illustrating stories about Community Helpers.
After reading and listening to stories about people who work in our community, we will then write about the people who work in our neighborhood. We will use the ink and card stock paper to print our stories for our classroom bulletin board.
Please consider supporting this exciting project for my little ones. We would love to have your support.
