My Students
Every year presents its own sets of challenges and obstacles. Being at a school where many students come from low-income, working families, it is my goal each year to make sure all of my students feel loved and welcomed in my room and provide support for them. Each year, the students become "my kids" (that is how they are referred to when I talk about them to my friends and family), and we quickly build a strong, tight-knit family. I spend a lot of my time getting to know students from other classrooms as well so that they know they are loved and can feel safe and protected.
I can't control what my students go home to but I can and do control the time that they are with me each day.
As a school, we are providing them with rigorous instruction to ensure they are college and career ready.
The students all try their best and want to do well in school and have high aspirations to achieve greatness. They are all unique and special in their own way. I look forward each day to spending the day with them and embarking on their educational journeys.
My Project
Technology is evolving every day and I am working with my students to show them how to use technology to benefit their lives and education. I will be able to help teach my first graders about technology and how it benefits them and society. I really want my students to learn how to properly use technology and how it simply isn't there for them to be entertained and play games.
My students are always eager to explore and be creative so I want to give them the opportunity to explore technology for use during center time as well as supplementing our curriculum.
This will foster their creativity and teamwork through collaboration, instruction, and individual exploration.
The students love to use the computers during center time, and I want them to have every opportunity to explore technology and use it to their to further their learning. I want my students to have headphones that fit them properly and they don't have to worry about them working or falling off of their heads. They will be able to read and listen to stories on their computers with ease as well as practicing how to properly take care of technology.
Once my kids have learned to navigate their computers and technology, I will be able to assign them online projects while increasing their knowledge with technology. This will give them time to practice what they have learned while giving them the opportunity to explore and be creative. This will allow them another mode to learn and practice the skills that they have learned.
