This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am a 7th grade science teacher in a Title I school district and have very limited funds available for extra items for each teacher. My school provided me a class set of headphones/ear buds at the beginning of the year but these were inexpensive and were broken within the first few weeks. I reached out to parents asking for them to purchase a set for their child to leave with me, not one student brought them. With my background being predominately in special education and 75% of the students being English language learners, I am consistently looking for ways to provide equitable access for all students.
Having enough earbuds for each students would help me get closer to providing this for each of my students for the remainder of this school year.
