This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember your parents reading bedtime stories to you? I remember listening to my parents read to me and I loved it. Now a days, for many different reason, less children are being read to. Books on CDs are one way to help student experience being read to.

My school is a pre-K to 6th grade elementary school.

I currently teach 5th grade. My students are predominately from Spanish speaking homes. Most of my students have parents who speak little or no English. My school is a Title One school with school wide free lunch. We are a high student transient rate and have currently had an increase in foster children enrollment.

My Project

I plan to use these personal CD players for small group instruction. I will be able to reinforce reading and listening skills for students who need to hear various readings of one book. It will help students who don't always feel successful reading, build their fluency and comprehension.

Having portable CD players will allow my student to listen to stories anywhere in the room.

It will allow them with reading models. It will give them the opportunity to enjoy a good book and foster the love of reading!
