Help me give my students access to more learning opportunities with these headphones where struggling readers can follow along with grade level read aloud books and all will have reliable headphones for testing and learning purposes.
I am very fortunate in that I have a fantastic, diverse group of students that bring the energy every single day! Particularly in this crazy year of unknowns, I can always count on them to be creative, thoughtful, and ready to learn. It's amazing seeing how they support and encourage each other to succeed during these difficult times.
My Project
All of my students will receive benefits as we utilize an ELA program where they create music while learning grammar and writing skills. They have been inhibited with this so far because not every student could afford headphones, and it is a distraction to other's learning when they use their Chromebook speakers.
Having a good, reliable set of class headphones will allow and encourage struggling readers to utilize them for following along with grade level read aloud books.
In addition, I have some students that like to turn in rewards points to listen to classical music as they work independently, and I have seen motivation and an improvement in behavior when students have this option available to them. I would love to see this opportunity for every student.
Lastly, this year has been difficult on the students and their families. They are thinking about state testing and the last thing I want them to worry about is being able to get headphones if they are not financially secure. In a stressful time, I hope to provide one less worry for my students.
