My students need a variety of literacy games to build confidence in reading and develop the love for learning while developing their literacy skills.

My Students
Do you remember being in school, sitting in the same seat all day and listening to the teacher lecture? Was this learning style very successful for you? I want my students to be engaged in their learning. What gets them more engaged than playing a game?! Help make this possible for them.
The twenty-four students in my classroom love to work with their elbow partner, their eye partner and in cooperative groups.
They love to guide and mentor each other throughout the school day. Their leadership skills really make an impact on each other, which helps foster our classroom community. They truly care about their peers and want to help each other be successful in the classroom.
My Project
The literacy games making up this project will allow my students to gain important literacy skills in a fun, interactive way. They will build comprehension skills and vocabulary skills, which are two major aspects of becoming a successful reader. While playing these games, they will increase cooperative learning and guide each other through literacy development. I also believe that my students' self-confidence will increase in literacy because they will be more interested in playing the games and staying focused in a small, cooperative learning group. When children learn through their peers, they develop many more skills than academics. These literacy games will foster this time and time again. Who said we can't have fun in school?
These materials will impact my students in literacy education, cooperative learning, peer mentoring and guidance, and the confidence they need to continue their literacy success.
Please help this become a reality for my students.
