My students need Dr. Seuss Classics, including 6 copies of "Green Eggs and Ham " and 5 copies of "The Cat in the Hat," to help in the acquisition of literacy skills.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember learning to read with "The Cat in the Hat" and "Green Eggs and Ham"? My first grade students can't get enough of these books. We have a few copies but not enough for small group reading or for our listening center.
My first grade students are very friendly, energetic, curious, talkative, and eager to learn.
They enjoy reading, arts and crafts, mathematics, and writing with sentence frames. They like responding to literature through oral discussions and writing. All of my 25 students receive free school lunch and are English Language Learners.
My Project
My students will have access to literature that they love and enjoy. These books will be available for the students at the listening center, classroom library, and during small group reading. Predictable, repetitive language, and fun books will help build a better phonemic awareness and reading fluency.
Dr. Seuss classics will help build confidence and early literacy skills.
These books will motivate my students to read during various time of the day and to become lifelong leaners.
