My Students
Have you ever gotten tired of sitting in your chair at your desk? Although we do kinesthetic and sensory activities in class to learn, we do spend a lot of time in our chairs. It is hard for some of my students.
My students are inspired by many different things.
I try to find different creative ways to help keep them motivated to participate each and every day.
I teach a 6:1:1 class of students with autism in a middle school for students with special needs. Our school is in New York City. My students use routine and structure to help them throughout the day. Many of them are visual, sensory learners who thrive on independent work. They are motivated by positive feedback and incentives.
My Project
My students are very responsive to sensory items and sometimes sitting on a hard metal chair makes learning very difficult. By having the requested chairs, the students will receive more comfort and less stress on their backs. This will hopefully lead to a happier and more comfortable learning environment. I believe that just like the current chairs, these chairs can be used in all our classroom areas.
My students will have the opportunity to sit on the exercise ball chairs to help them with their sensory input.
These chairs will help my students relax and concentrate on all their activities during the course of the day.
