Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
What is matter? What is mass? How can we identify this? Can properties change? These are questions that our new core addresses. However, without the tools to test and prove these principles, the concepts often seem almost abstract to the students. The tools and materials provided by this grant will give my class the chance to see and test these ideas firsthand. They will be personally engaged in testing and measuring, integrating science and math to better understand the world around them.
When the students prove principles for themselves the lessons learned are so much stronger.
Scales for weighing and graduated cylinders for measuring provided by this grant will give my class the opportunity to cement their understanding of science and math in the physical world around them. Aprons, glasses, and gloves will keep them safe while they learn.
