Funding this project will help create science-based experiences for approximately seventy-five, sixth grade, science students. These students are from a quiet mixed income area in a beautiful, partially rural area of Virginia. Our school serves students from a very diverse background of students. These science materials were selected based on our Virginia science standards and several preplanned experiments.

These lab materials will help take learning beyond the textbook and into the hands of all of my student!
My students love to move and learn with a hands-on approach. As a new science teacher, I am trying to build up my classroom with materials students can use all of their senses to explore!
My Project
We all know students learn best from doing, not just seeing or hearing. These materials will give the students the opportunity to do some extra labs all year long to deepen their knowledge of our science standards. Materials can possible be used at home, but will primarily be used at school.

I plan to showcase solids, liquids, and gasses with the use of balloons. The marbles will come in handy when we talk about force and potion. What about making a solar kitchen with the foil? The possibilities are endless!
