My Students
Our school population is 50% low income and a fourth of the students are English Learners (EL). I work with a team of teachers that work with our EL population in and out of the classroom plus in the morning before school.
Many of students do not get breakfast in the morning.
They come to our class every morning to practice their English before school starts. Our students want to learn and we are there to help them learn academic English so they can succeed in their classrooms.
My Project
The difference that this will make in my students learning is they will have food to help them think. Many of our students come to school right when the bell rings and don't have time to eat breakfast. It is hard to learn on an empty stomach.
Our school has a before school learning opportunity for our English Language students and I would like to provide a breakfast snack to start the day off right.
We also work with students during the school day sometimes they just need a little snack to make it through the rest of the day. The students look forward to snacks that taste good and our healthy too.
