I teach 24 very curious students who want to get their hands dirty! Our school is almost 60% poverty and many of my students have never grown a plant or had a personal garden. I want to create a special education focus to help them become more aware ecologically.
Our school does not have the resources to provide us with a growlab like this one. This will allow the students to explore soil and plants throughout the growing season. Their favorite subject is science and this would allow them to have a hands on experience with our curriculum.
This growlab will easily fit in our classroom on a table and will let the kids experiment and observe as scientists the entire process of plants. I want my students to understand what it means to be 'green' and this is just a small way to teach them this important concept.
You will make it possible for my students to learn the importance of the correct soil, light and nutrients for each plant and to explore the science of botany.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
