My students need laptops to use in the classroom to help engage them in their learning. They can be used for individual research and to practice skills in small groups.
Our students are 32 diverse learners who all deserve access to technology to help them be active learners within our classroom. Many of our students need multiple means of access to a difficult curriculum and utilizing technology within the classroom is a key way to keep students actively engaged.
Our classroom currently has only one laptop which is connected to our portable Smartboard which is often shared within the building.
Many of our students do not have access to technology at home. We would love to be able to give them these experiences with technology within our classroom!
My Project
Our classroom is not yet at the level technologically to meet our students' needs as learners. This project will help to close that gap just a little bit more. Our general education students, special education students and English language learners will all benefit from this technology.
For example, students who need extra practice with multiplication can play fast fact games, students who are new to the country (our English language learners) can listen to letter sounds and words in English and acquire new vocabulary and students can explore independent research topics and take pride in their final writing pieces by typing them.
