My Students
All of my students have difficulty with some aspect of learning in their classroom. I see students ranging from PreK through sixth grade. My students are the children that have difficulty communicating, understanding, reading, and/or listening in school and at home.
What I love about my job is that I have the opportunity to show my students how their strengths can help them improve the areas they struggle with.
Showing them that we all have weaknesses, and if we work hard, we can improve on our goals. When my students’ faces light up, I realize at that moment that they have achieved the feeling of success, which will give them the confidence in themselves that they have been lacking. It’s amazing what self-confidence can do for a student!
In the age of digital learning, I need to use fun, exciting and motivating materials to help my students continue improving their speech and language skills. I have a lot of competition with movies, video games and YouTube. So, helping students realize they can be successful, no matter how small, is my biggest joy.
My Project
The virtual resources that my students need from Teachers Pay Teachers, will help them work on some of the following skills: vocabulary, grammar, story telling, answering wh- questions, core concepts, social language, articulation.
As I work with virtual students, their parents are in the session as well.
These resources give parents an idea of how to work with their students at home using the same strategies. And it keeps the parents motivated, too!
I have many games and reinforcers in my speech room, but it is difficult to keep my virtual students focused. These digital resources/activities will assist the students to keep working on their goals without knowing they are actually “working”.
